What does CPO mean for Mercedes-Benz models?

A pre-owned Mercedes-Benz model must meet a series of strict eligibility requirements before it is officially Certified Pre-Owned. In order to be considered for certification, a vehicle has to be less than six years old, with less than 75,000 miles on the odometer, and it must have been serviced on schedule throughout its lifespan. Each model’s CARFAX® Vehicle History Report is checked to ensure the vehicle has not been in any major accidents and doesn’t have identifiable structural damage.

Once these standards have been met, the vehicle then undergoes a road test and a rigorous inspection by our service technicians. The inspection, which covers over 165 points, includes everything from the condition of the engine, transmission, brakes and electrical systems to the appearance of the body paint and shine on the chrome grille — no stone is left unturned. If the vehicle is satisfactory, it is finally named a Certified Pre-Owned Mercedes-Benz.

Is a Certified Pre-Owned Mercedes-Benz model a good investment?

Absolutely. As mentioned, we stand behind each of the CPO models we sell because they are thoroughly tested, inspected and reconditioned to be like new. The Mercedes-Benz experts here at our service center ensure that every detail is attended to before each CPO model is placed on our lot for sale. When you visit us for a test drive, our sales staff will be here to answer your questions and help you find the vehicle that fits your needs. And if you purchase one and decide it’s not the right fit, you can exchange it for another within seven days or 500 miles (whichever comes first).1 Once you’ve settled on the perfect model for you, you can drive with confidence, knowing you have complimentary 24/7 Roadside Assistance available as part of your warranty coverage. In case of a dead battery, a flat tire or an empty fuel tank, all you have to do is make a phone call and help will be on the way.

Does a Mercedes-Benz CPO vehicle come with a warranty?

When you purchase one of our CPO models, you’ll get the benefit of any remaining part of the 4-Year/50,000-Mile New Vehicle Limited Warranty that the vehicle came with originally (if it is still in effect). Once this warranty expires, the Certified Pre-Owned Limited Warranty begins and lasts for an additional 12 months/unlimited miles.2

Can I extend my Mercedes-Benz CPO Limited Warranty?

Rather than extending, you can simply add the CPO Extended Limited Warranty. Available with coverage for either one or two years (and unlimited miles), we recommend adding this warranty so that you’re still covered after your CPO Limited Warranty expires — and you can keep driving with peace of mind.2

What is covered by the Mercedes-Benz CPO Limited Warranty?

Both the CPO Limited Warranty and the CPO Extended Limited Warranty cover the repairs or replacements needed to correct any manufacturer or parts defects in a variety of crucial components. These include, but are not limited to: engine components, powertrain components, brakes, steering, climate controls, convertible top systems (if applicable) and more.

What is not covered by the Mercedes-Benz CPO Limited Warranty?

These warranties do not cover components that wear down naturally during regular driving. These include the battery, brake pads and rotors, tires and other parts. Additionally, if the covered components have issues due to external factors (such as reckless driving, dangerous weather conditions, improper maintenance, the introduction of third-party parts not meant for Mercedes-Benz vehicles and other factors), repairs and replacements for those components will not be covered by the warranty. Commercial and business vehicles are not covered by these warranties.
